Ozone and E.coli Papers

Posted by Joel Leusink on March 31, 2011 under Food Industry, Ozone News | Be the First to Comment

Ozone is commonly used for the reduction, or elimination of E.coli on food products. Since achievingGRAS approval for the use of ozone for direct contact with food in 2001 the use of ozone for the elimination of E.coli has increased significantly. The specific strain of E.coli most frequently targeted is E.coli O157:H7.

Ozone and E.coli Papers

We have assembled some research on the use of ozone specifically for E.coli O157:H7. This research is linked HERE, we have provided the white paper title, author, and abstract for your review, along with a link to the full paper for your use.

If you have any further questions on the use of ozone for the inactivation of E.coli O157:H7, or any other pathogen, please contact our application engineers today.

150 g/hr Ozone Generator for Rent

Posted by Joel Leusink on March 28, 2011 under Food Industry, Ozone Generators | Be the First to Comment

Ozone Solutions has recently added a new Ozone Generator to our rental line.  This is an exciting addition, as this Ozone Generator produces 150 g/hr of ozone from oxygen.

150 g/hr Ozone Generator

The Water Cooled TG-150 is an extremely efficient and versatile Ozone Generator offering ozone effective concentrations up to 10% by weight.  At an oxygen flow rate of only 15 SCFH the TG-150 will produce 55 g/hr of ozone.  At an oxygen flow rate of 20 SCFH the TG-150 will produce 70 g/hr of ozone.   Check out the entire TG-150 performance data here.

For a complete package, Ozone Solutions also rents the oxygen concentrators necessary to produce ozone from this Ozone Generator.

For specific application questions, or to see if this is the right Ozone Generator for your short term application contact our application engineers today.

Ozone Solutions now rents a high concentration Ozone Analyzer. Due to popular demand we have added the UV-106H to our rental line.  The UV-106H will measure ozone concentrations from 0-20% by weight.  Users can set the UV-106H for the concentration to be measured in % by weight, g/m3, % by volume, and ppm.

High Concentration UV Ozone Analyzer

The UV-106H is a portable, bench mount Ozone Analyzer that is very easy to use.  This analyzer has many uses, however the most common use we see is to measure the output of an Ozone Generator.  This was described in more detail in a recent journal post.

Low Concentration Ozone Analyzer

The UV-106H is shipped in a handy carry case with all the necessary accessories for use directly upon delivery.

We also rent medium and low concentration ozone analyzers, along with many other ozone detection devices.  If you have a need to measure ozone contact our ozone monitor specialists today.

New Ozone Research is Posted

Our Ozone Research page received four new papers today! These four papers are all complete research papers that were written specifically for, or by, Ozone Solutions. See ozone research.

Ozone Ground Beef Testing

These papers are a great addition to our research page. The first paper is a paper on Ozone and ground beef. This paper was presented at the recent International Ozone Association Conference in, Bellevue, WA.  This paper covers the potential use of using ozone gas to reduce E.coli in ground beef.

Antimicrobial and Organoleptic Effects of Aqueous Ozone on Pork Carcasses

The second paper is titled Antimicrobial Effects of Ozonated Water Against Generic E.coli on Swine Intestines. This paper covers the use of ozone on pork carcasses.  This paper was written by a local pork processor to determine if ozone would be good solution for their operation.  Today they are using ozone throughout their plant.

Antimicrobial Effects of Ozonated Water Against Generic E.coli on Swine Intestines

The third paper is my personal favorite.  That may be due to my personal involvement, however it is more likely due to the great results is showed.  This paper shows the relationship of ozone concentration, and contact time against E.coli bacteria.  In this paper we discovered that only 2.0 ppm of ozone for one second of contact time is very effective at achieving a great reduction in E.coli bacteria.

Antimicrobial Efficacies of 2.3 PPM Aqueous Ozone Against E.coli and General Aerobic Bacteria

The final paper titled Antimicrobial Efficacies of 2.3 ppm Aqueous Ozone Against E.coli and General Aerobic Bacteria shows the effect of 2.3 ppm aqueous ozone.  This is a simple paper that shows the great effect of a typical ozone residual in water.

You can check out these papers along with other research and information on our food processing page.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact our ozone application engineers today.

Ozone Generator Performance

Posted by Joel Leusink on March 18, 2011 under Commercial Ozone Usage, Ozone Generators, Ozone Products | Be the First to Comment

We were asked to provide the ozone production performance of the OZV-8 Ozone Generator equipped with the 10-position switch.  I prepared an extensive performance chart for this customer showing the ozone output at each switch setting.  I thought this chart was worthy of sharing.

OZV-8S Performance Chart (Oxygen)

It is interesting that the OZV-8 Ozone Generator produces ozone concentrations up to 4.77% by weight at 1 LPM.  This is a great ozone concentration for this Ozone Generator.  However, the overall ozone production with the OZV-8 peaks out at just over 8.5 g/hr of ozone.  It is evident that higher oxygen flows will not improve ozone output.  It was impressive to see how linear the ozone output was across each of the switch settings at each flow rate.

For more information on the OZV-8 Ozone Generator see the web-page here.  For additional Ozone Generators see our entire Ozone Generator product line. If you have any questions about using the OZV-8 or any other Ozone Generators please call our application engineers today.

Ozone Trailer

Ozone Trailers are built for Groundwater Remediation needs. The mobility, security, and simplicity of these systems are very useful for temporary remediation sites.

Ozone Solutions builds Ozone Remediation Trailers from the ground up.  I thought it might be fun to show how this progresses!

Ozone Solutions has trailers custom built by, K&O Manufacturing, right here in Hull, IA.  Using a local manufacturer allows a great deal of flexibility in our construction, and a higher quality end product for the customer.

These trailers have vents, an air conditioner, and many internal brackets built into the trailer during assembly.  This allows the trailer to be painted after these holes are cut.  These pictures show how the trailer arrives to Ozone Solutions.

The inside of the trailer is painted steel construction ready for assembly.  There are braces installed for the divider wall, and vent holes cut in the back.

Looking in to the front door of the trailer.  Plywood is now installed on the walls with insulation between the plywood and steel exterior.  An insulated divider wall is also installed between the front and rear of the trailer.  The roof is insulated and lined, with an air conditioner installed in the roof to cool all controls and ozone generating equipment.

Wiring is completed inside the trailer.  This is a big task, however working inside a trailer allows great flexibility for the customer and for us to customize all controls for the specific application.

The Ozone Generators are installed in the front of the trailer.  The front of the trailer is divided from the rear of the trailer to keep the Ozone Generators, and other control equipment cool, clean, and dust free.

Mass Flow Meter

Posted by Joel Leusink on March 15, 2011 under Ozone Products | Be the First to Comment

We recently added our line of Digital Mass Flow Meters to our website. To measure the flow of oxygen or air into an Ozone Generator with absolute accuracy a Mass Flow Meter is the best option.

We sell the full line of Aalborg Mass Flow Meters and Mass Flow Controllers.  While we list the 0-10 LPM models on our website, we do sell the full line of these mass flow meters and mass flow controllers.

A mass flow meter will measure gas flow based on the volume and density of that gas regardless of gas pressure.  This provides accurate, pressure compensated pressure readings.

A mass flow controller will measure flow, and control this flow based upon a digital input signal from the user.

For more ozone flow and pressure control devices check out our website.
